Insights Dashboard Design
The brief this project was to design an internal data insights dashboard for a marketing and advertising agency to ensure that the user flows are initiative, clear and aligns with the brand identity that the client provided.
Style and Visual Exploration
A visual direction was chosen and refined from two proposed styles. I defined the typographic styles, cards, interactive elements and presented the pattern library to the client. The style aimed to focus on delivering clarity, simplicity with a touch of boldness which was evident in their brand.
New Sitemap
The UX process was conducted concurrently with visual design. While the dashboard was already functional when I joined the project, it required restructuring to allow for users to navigate the project specific pages separately from the platform-wide tools and settings. There was also a stage of optimising pages that have similar or duplicate functions, removing user journeys with dead-ends, and allowing for flows to be streamlined and intuitive
I created a simple sitemap to reflect the new structure, reflecting the split the menus into the main and utility menus
UX Design
The new platform structure was translated into the UX wireframes of the site and the new changes were reflected in the new navigation menus. In-page UX changes included the use of expanding menus for more advanced settings, allowing for the settings to follow the inverted pyramid approach and to navigate more general project settings first and foremost.
Full UI Page Designs
The style was rolled out across the approved prototype, and was moved onto the development stages with no further changes from the client. The dashboard is currently in use and has received positive feedback from early users.
